From Technology to Industrial Scale: Qualifying Fibre-Reinforced Additive Manufacturing

Event

Workshop on Qualification & Scaling of Fibre-Reinforced Additive Manufacturing

How can fibre-reinforced additive manufacturing move from promising technology to scalable industrial production?

As part of the EmpowerAX community, Qualified AM contributed its qualification perspective to the discussion on the industrialisation and scaling of fibre-reinforced additive manufacturing.

The workshop focused on a central challenge: scaling requires more than advancing the manufacturing technology itself. Use case, part design, process industrialisation, digital process control, verification and qualification need to work together from the beginning.

The discussions followed a clear path:

Valid Use Case → Process-Capable AM Part Design → Manufacturing Process Industrialisation → Digital Process Control → Verification & Qualification → Industrial Scaling

A particular focus was placed on the transition towards controlled and reproducible manufacturing processes and on how process monitoring, manufacturing data and digital evidence can support verification and qualification.

Rather than treating qualification as a final step, the workshop explored how it can be integrated directly into technology development and industrialisation. This also includes the perspective of moving towards a controlled and qualified process space, creating a stronger basis for repeatable and scalable production.

The workshop provides a basis for further collaboration within EmpowerAX and for connecting technology development, industrial use cases and qualification requirements more systematically.

As part of the EmpowerAX community, Qualified AM contributes its qualification perspective to this development, with a clear focus: qualification should enable industrial scale, not slow it down.
