The future of Additive Manufacturing is being built today in Enterprise Singapore through ISO – International Organization for Standardization collaboration.
Experts from Germany Gregor Reischle, France Mathilde Jullienne, Japan Takafumi Sasaki and Canada François Richard, together with stakeholders from across the global ISO community, met within ISO/TC261 JG 84 to review and discuss ballot comments on:
ISO/ASTM NP 52964 – Additive Manufacturing – Environment – Life Cycle Assessment of Additive Manufacturing Processes.
The discussions demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing AM through globally aligned standards. We agreed to reconvene in four weeks to continue resolving comments and driving progress for the AM industry.
A key topic was the alignment of ISO/ASTM NP 52964 with the work of ISO/TC 207/SC 5, the committee responsible for international Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) standards.
Looking ahead, JG 84 discussed future standardization activities focused on AM design, sourcing strategies, and value-chain decisions that maximize the sustainability potential of additive manufacturing. The group also expressed strong support for exploring future guidance covering the distribution, use phase, and end-of-life management of AM components, enabling organizations to better measure and optimize sustainability impacts across the complete AM lifecycle.
This is another important step toward making the benefits of sustainable Additive Manufacturing not only achievable, but also measurable, credible, and globally recognized.
📢 We are looking for experts to join JG 84
As the work on ISO/ASTM NP 52964 progresses, we are actively seeking experts from industry, academia, research organizations, and certification bodies to contribute to this important international effort.
If you have expertise in:
- Additive Manufacturing
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
- Sustainability & Circular Economy
- Design for AM (DfAM)
- Manufacturing Qualification & Certificatio
- Digital Product Data & Traceability
- Quality Assurance & Industrialization
Please contact us directly and consider joining ISO/TC 261 JG 84.
Together, we can help create the standards that make the sustainability benefits of Additive Manufacturing measurable and recognized worldwide.
